Food and Nutrition Society of Indonesia

Recognizing that nutrition and food issues are complex from upstream downstream that require holistic collective efforts by various disciplines and across sectors, and are encouraged by the desire to assist the government, the private sector and the community in overcoming the nutritional and food problems in Indonesia, experts or scholars from various disciplines related to nutrition and food uniting themselves into an association called PERGIZI PANGAN Indonesia (Food and Nutrition Society of Indonesia).

Food and Nutrition Society of Indonesia formed in Bogor on August 19, 1973 for an unlimited time and domiciled in Bogor. At the time of its founding declaration, experts and intellectuals involved consisted of nutritionists, doctors, food technologists, sociologists, and economists concerned with the development of nutrition and food science and its application holistically in addressing the nutritional and food problems of Indonesian society.

Since 1974, Food and Nutrition Society of Indonesia represents the Indonesian Nutrition and Food organization as a member of the Adhering Bodies at the International Union of Nutrition Sciences (IUNS), as well as a member of the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies (FANS). In 2013 Indonesian FOOD PERGIZI co-founded and became a member of the South East Asia Public Health Nutrition Network (SEA-PHN Network).
